On the computer that is running the file server, quit any programs that are not being used. |
• |
Make sure users are not running applications on the file server. If they need to use an application, they should install a copy on their hard disk. |
• |
Make sure users who can connect over TCP are set up to do so. You may need to upgrade the software on the client computer by doing one of the following: |
|
• |
Install Mac OS 9. |
• |
Install Mac OS 8.1 or later and AppleShare Client software 3.8.4. |
|
• |
Adjust file server performance by reallocating processing power, reducing the number of concurrent connections allowed, allocating server memory, or by resetting the cache. |
• |
If the computer is running other network services (such as routing or calendar services), consider moving these services to another computer. |
• |
Stop the file server, turn off unnecessary extensions (use the Extensions Manager to choose the AppleShare IP Base set), and restart the computer. |
• |
Install additional memory (RAM) in the computer that is running the file server. |
• |
Switch to a faster network type (for example, from 10 Mbps Ethernet to 100 Mbps Ethernet). |
• |
Ask your network administrator to check for other network problems. |
